Tim Means out strikes Mike Perry to earn decision victory.

Tim Means defeated Mike Perry via unanimous decision (30-27, 29-28, 29-28), at UFC 255 on Saturday, Nov. 21, 2020, live from UFC Apex in Las Vegas, NV.

“It wasn’t frustrating at all. He gave me 30 grand of his cash. He was sending me pictures on Instagram eating cheeseburgers. He wasn’t taking me seriously,” said Means, who improved to 31-12-1-1 with the victory.

During his walkout, Perry screamed, saying that the wrong song was played as he walked to the Octagon. As Beyonce’s Halo played, Perry started singing along as he entered the cage.

Perry got off to a strong start in the opening round, bringing down Means and taking his back. Perry made a smooth transition to the back went for a choke but could not finish Means, who was able to fight back to his feet. Means closed the round controlling the action and walking down Perry.

Means came out for the second round and continued to find success landing his jab. The two continued to trade and move until Perry landed a big right hand that appeared to hurt Means. The round concluded with both fights continuing to trade punches, with Means appearing the get the best of the majority of exchanges.

Perry opened the third round with a takedown attempt but Means was again able to fight off Perry. The two fighters continued to trade punches with neither fighter appearing to care about playing any defense. Means again continued to use his jab to great success and won the majority of exchanges with Perry. In the final minute of the fight, both threw everything they had. Perry unloaded as soon as he heard the 10-second warning, landing a couple of big punches.

Mike Perry’s loss might be the final straw

The loss will force the UFC to reconsider Perry’s career with the promotion. While Perry can deliver entertaining fights, he has a losing fight in the UFC and a 14-7 record overall. In addition to a mediocre record, Perry is dealing with several issues outside of the Octagon, including being accused of domestic violence by his former wife.
