I’m a Trader Joe’s fanatic. I accessorize my room with its fresh flowers, stock up on all its seasonal products (the butternut squash mac and cheese is out of this world), and am basically BFFs with my store’s manager — no, really, I make a TJ’s run at least twice a week. So when I discovered TikTok user @traderjoesfoodreviews’ puppy chow recipe featuring Trader Joe’s Speculoos Cookie Butter, I was all in.

If you’ve made puppy chow before (also known as muddy buddies), you know how fast and easy this snack is to whip up. Essentially just a two-step process, this cookie butter puppy chow recipe is no different. While classic puppy chow uses peanut butter, swapping in Trader Joe’s Speculoos Cookie Butter just sounds so good. All you have to do is melt, mix, and shake, and it’s ready! See the full recipe below.

  1. 1 cup chocolate chips
1/2 cup Trader Joe’s Speculoos Cookie Butter
    1/4 cup butter
    8 cups Chex cereal
    1 1/2 cups confectioners sugar

  1. In a medium saucepan, melt chocolate chips, cookie butter, and butter until fully melted and smooth, about 3-5 minutes. Remove from heat. Fold in Chex cereal until fully combined.
  2. Transfer Chex mixture to a plastic container. Sprinkle confectioners sugar, and snap the lid shut. Shake thoroughly until the powdered sugar has dispersed evenly, about 30 seconds. Pull off that lid, and enjoy!
