The province unveiled a new strategy outlining guiding principles and actions to ensure enhanced prevention and control of COVID-19 on farm operations, at a news conference in Kingsville Monday morning.
Ernie Hardeman, Minister of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs, made the announcement at Kingsville’s Mastronardi Produce/Sunset Produce.
The agri-business sector has been hard hit by the coronavirus, with numerous outbreaks locally and the death of two migrant workers earlier this year.
Hardeman’s plan contains 35 “actions” based on three pillars related to prevention and containment: before getting on the farm, on the farm and farm worker housing.
