The world renowned, and revered Evangelist, founder of the Perez Chapel, a Pentecostal-Charismatic ministry in Ghana formerly World Miracle church International, also the founder of Precious TV, Chancellor of the Perez University College and author of several books on Christianity has come under severe criticisms by some followers and communication team members of the ruling party New Patriotic Party (NPP).

According to the story circulating on various whatsapp platforms and on social media, Bishop Charles Agyin-Asare has been busy criticizing the current government under the leadership of President Nana Akufo-Addo in clamping down the financial sector.

In a statement made by one P.K Sarpong, he doesn’t understand the reason why ‘for some time now, we have been wondering what might have fueled these boatloads of criticisms from the revered man of God’. Is it to make the government unpopular?

Bishop Charles Agyin-Asare @ Pérez Chapel

In a sermon from the founder on Sunday 19th of July 2020, the Bishop Charles Agyin-Asare expressly stated in a question couldn’t the industries and companies that were closed down under president’s Akufo Addo’s administration due to alleged irregularity in operation be salvaged? Couldn’t nothing be done to help these organizations.

He did mention for instance, Dr. Kwabena Duffuor an astute Economist who has also served as the governor of the Bank of Ghana, was once named as one of the four best Central Bank Governors in the World at an IMF/World Bank meeting in 1999.

During his tenure as the minister of finance ‘we had the best economic growth rate of 14 percent (14%)’.

Couldn’t nothing be done to have salvaged the former finance minister’s bank?

Bishop Agyin-Asare mentioned in his sermon some other individual business owners including Dr. Papa Kwesi Nduom, the Chairperson of Groupe Nduom, a privately held business group with membercompanies in banking, financial services, hospitality, real estate, IT, media and entertainment.

With over 3,500 direct employees, many of whom live and work in Dr. Nduom’s coastal hometown of Elmina, Ghana, Groupe Nduom has become

one of the largest local business groups in the country with several other businesses across the country.

Mr. Prince Kofi Amoabeng the owner of UT Bank, was also a victim of the people whose businesses were closed down.

According to Bishop Agyin- Asare, he helped him grow his money to the tune of one hundred thousand dollars which he invested into their current place of worship the Perez Dome.

A lot of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) sympathizers have taken to social media to call the Bishop names. According to P.K Sarpong Bishop Agyin-Asare ‘was the board chairman for the First Trust Savings and Loans which was caught in the web of those financial entities which were empty’.

The Bishop Agyin-Asare hasn’t responded to any of these allegations and most people are waiting patiently to hear what he will come up with on Sunday during his sermon like he did.
