Mikel Arteta admits Bukayo Saka, Martin Odegaard and Emile Smith Rowe are early doubts for Arsenal’s Europa League clash with Slavia Prague next Thursday but is confident Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang will be avaialble.
Saka was forced off with a thigh injury in the first half of Arsenal’s 3-0 victory over Sheffield United on Sunday evening.
Odegaard is currently sidelined with an ankle problem, while Smith Rowe is also struggling with a thigh problem.
Aubameyang, meanwhile, missed the trip to Sheffield United due to illness.
When asked about Saka’s condition after Arsenal’s latest win, Arteta replied: ‘I don’t know, he had to come off, he had some discomfort in his thigh.
‘It’s the last thing that we need because we’re missing some big players at the moment and we don’t want to lose another one.
‘I don’t know the extent. I think for Thursday David [Luiz] will be out, Kieran [Tierney] will be out, Emile and Martin we don’t know yet. And Bukayo we’ll see how he will develop in the next few days.
Asked if there’s a chance of Odegaard and Smith Rowe returning for the game, Arteta replied: ‘I don’t know. I want to think yes but if I’m honest I don’t know.’
Arteta, however, was more positive about Aubameyang’s chances of being available against Slavia Prague: ‘I hope so yes.
‘He wasn’t well yesterday, he could not train, he could not be available today, but hopefully in the next day or two he will be feeling better and he will be available.’
