Fans of the band Failure will recognize the title. The rest of you will know that I’m referring to USC’s mascot. We have a tough week ahead in ESPN college pick em. Let’s find out what happened last week.

It was a pretty good week for the FanSided Fantasy group in ESPN college pick em. I only missed my one point pick, as did lbockenek. Keepingthelittlehumansalive only missed the two point pick. ernesto12, pitt2534, and JiggleyPuff all had 30 or better. On a week with only 36 total points, that’s very good.

The strong week from ernesto12 keeps him in first place with 261 points. Protege21242 is in second at 254. Jay_da_gr8_1 gets back into third at 249, and that’s where the logjam begins. BKNoleGirl, Gamebreaker_boz, and earleyca are all two behind Jay. I’m two behind them. Kev Shep! Is one behind me. Rounding out the top 10 and the 240’s are Preter and lbockenek.

Oregon was the only clean sweep for the group this week. Only 2pretty4orange! picked Michigan State. Only two people picked the Hokies as well. Otherwise most of the picks were split pretty evenly.

On to week 9 of ESPN college pick em! I lost a spot last week, but there was enough chaos that I’m not all that far behind the leader. 16 points doesn’t feel insurmountable this season.

These picks will be for the confidence version of the game, where you assign a point value from 1-10 based on how confident you are in each pick. I will publish mine here each week. If I make a change, I will just amend the original article or update on Twitter if I’m short on time. This will give you guys a bit of an advantage. What will you do with it?

Democratic norms are being stress-tested all over the world, and the past few years have thrown up all kinds of questions we didn't know needed clarifying – how long is too long for a parliamentary prorogation? How far should politicians be allowed to intervene in court cases?
